Whenever Henry Wilt took the dog for a walk, or, to be more accurate, when the dog took him, or to be exact, when Mrs Wilt told them both to go to take themeselves out of the house so that she could do her yoga exercise, he always took the same route. In fact the dog followed the route and Wilt followed the dog. They went down past the Post Office, across the playground, under the railway bridge and out on the footpath by the river. A mile along the river and then under the railway line again and back trough streets where the house were bigger than Wilt’s semi and there were large streets and gardens and the cars were all Rovers and Mercedes.

Una delle abbreviazioni molto usate dagli utenti sulla rete è LOL, che sta per Laughing out loud (sto ridendo a crepapelle), utilizzata anche da noi, italiani copioni. Se vi è capitato, come spero, di aver chiacchierato in chat con un ragazzo/a anglofono, avrete già notato come sia strano comprendere, oltre ad una lingua diversa, anche una infinità di abbreviazioni che stanno per frasi inglesi che tutti disconoscono. Ve ne propongo alcune da tenere come breviario, nel caso in cui in futuro avreste qualche difficoltà a capire cosa cavolo significhi quel FRO che avete appena ricevuto. FRO: fuck right off (“vai subito aff…”).
